Agnes Kandlbinder and Sophie Püchel, together with colleagues from the Institut des humanités en médecine UNIL-CHUV, took part in the winter seminar of the Société Suisse d’éthique biomédicale, held in January 2026, in the beautiful setting of Bigorio, Ticino. This year’s seminar focused on the topic of health equity in Switzerland. Agnes and Sophie presented initial insights from their literature and archival research in a talk titled “Early thoughts on an interdisciplinary investigation of hospital discharge reports in Switzerland,” addressing ethical questions surrounding hospital discharge letters. Interesting aspects emerged regarding both the history and current developments in the creation and content of these documents, particularly in light of advances in LLM-assisted (Large-Language Models) generation of hospital discharge letters. The seminar also offered valuable input from leading experts in medical ethics, clinical care, and nursing science within the Swiss context.
